Client Specialist

GENERAL SUMMARY : Responsible for the overall functioning of the Community Action Center assigned, for client intake and case processing. Performs as a respectable and professional representative of MOCAP.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assists with identifying social needs of populations served by MOCAP and performs an active advocacy role on behalf of that population.
  • Responsible for all functions necessary to maintain the Action Center.
  • Provide services to clients including completing applications for assistance with commodities, energy assistance, and nutritional supplements.
  • Determine and document client eligibility for services.
  • Maintain good client relations. Makes home visits for home bound clients.
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with other agencies, organizations, and service providers.
  • Maintain security and confidentiality of clients, agency and staff.
  • Comply with agency policies, administrative instructions, procedures and personnel policies and practices.
  • Assists with monthly reports.
  • Answers phones and directs call as needed.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, organized work area.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations about the agency and services available.
  • Performs other duties as directed by the Executive Director.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Associates Degree or related equivalent of education and work experience.

Must work well with diverse population.

Knowledgeable of community resources and human service programs.

Good communication skills.

Minimum of one-year experience with computers including; Windows, Excel, Microsoft office, and Outlook.

Receptionist

GENERAL SUMMARY:    Primary responsibilities for this position are answering telephones and greeting guests, visitors, and clients; and performing basic clerical work.  Reports to Office Manager.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Answers telephones and relays messages accurately and in a professional manner.
  • Respond to questions from clients and other callers or visitors to the office.
  • Performs initial screening of clients requesting service.
  • Schedules appointments for applicants.
  • Maintain good client relations.
  • Works cooperatively with other staff to achieve the mission of the agency.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, organized work area.
  • Operate office machines.
  • Sort incoming mail and logs.
  • Run postage on outgoing mail.
  • Carry out other duties and assignments as directed by supervisor.
  • At all times you must maintain security and confidentiality of the clients, agency and staffs information and records.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

Must work well with diverse population.

Some administrative or business courses preferred.

Have a positive attitude about being accountable in the work setting.

Minimum of one-year experience with computers including; Windows, Excel, Microsoft office, and Outlook.

Good communication and listening skills.

Knowledge of agency programs and services.

Knowledge of business letter composition and other correspondences.

Ability to organize time, prioritize assignments and work on assignment with intention of completing them on short notice.

After School Program Assistant

GENERAL SUMMARY: Muskegon Oceana Community Action Partnership (MOCAP) has three part-time openings for instructional staff, who are energetic and great team players, to work at Three Oaks Public School Academy (TOPSA) for MOCAP’s 21st CCLC after school program. This program involves a large group of students in grades 1 through 5.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Instructing students by using a variety of techniques, such as multi-sensory learning, repetition, and reflection, in order to reinforce learning to meet students’ varying needs and interests.

  • Maintain accurate and complete student records, and prepare reports on children and activities, as required by Grant.
  • Bring energy and enthusiasm, welcoming families and communicating positive information about students to families.
  • Be able to design activities and plan curriculum for an enrichment class during the afterschool program.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Associate’s Degree or five years of experience working with children
  • Have experience working with and supervising groups of school-age students in school or recreation (camps, teams, etc.), including facilitating student conflict.
  • Be culturally competent.
  • Teach students personal development skills such as goal-setting, independence, and self-advocacy.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade assignments to evaluate student progress.
  • Have strong collaboration and communication skills.
